I’ll admit, I’ve been planning to write this article ever since I went to the #ImpactLondon event. The hounds of justice tag could safely be given to the Wolves for now. In perhaps the most entertaining set of matches this year thus far, The Shield vs The Wyatts witnessed the cracks of the formidable group known as The Shield. There’s a new group in the Wrestling world, and they have the intent of fighting for a just cause. The American Wolves are ready to cause an Impact.
This shouldn’t be misinterpreted in trying to say that both entities are the same. The Shield and The American Wolves have a different fighting style. The Shield has superb variety while the American Wolves are fantastically athletic. However both groups demonstrate a master class in the ring. Neither set of wrestlers have been around average based wrestlers. These guys have been wrestling with big names in the wrestling world and are still able to stand out. This isn’t achieved just by getting the victories but they are performing to an exceptional level in order to attain the wins. The fans when watching them have been startled.
There are some similarities between both set of wrestlers. The wrestlers have had a successful career in the world of Indie wrestling. They have set alight in the Ring Of Honor. But that doesn’t guarantee you any success when you enter a major wrestling organization. The name Jamie Noble comes to mind who was really good in Ring Of Honor but like how CM Punk was warned on his final day with the company, Jamie Noble never did quite live up to his potential in WWE. Or let’s look at a TNA example with Mr Jay Lethal. The point is, these guys despite having a fan base from their previous work weren’t assured to make it. But given the opportunity to shine in their debuts for the companies, they surprised the members of the wrestling world who weren’t previously aware of the work. It was an instant shift from being unknown entities that were given a big chance in fighting established stars to becoming worthy members of the roster.
The American Wolves were immediately thrown into the mystery investor storyline. There were some wrestling fans who were excited in the acquisition of the duo. While there were some who were unaware of their ability and curious in why there was such hype surrounding the two. They were immediately thrown into a debut match against the tag team champions and an ex X Division Champion. Does that sound familiar? Oh when The Shield had to fight Team Hell No and the ferocious Ryback (when he was huge). The American Wolves were able to gain a victory that surprised some people considering that The BroMans are the champions. But it was a statement of intent that a new force was in town.
The Wolves haven’t just been randomly introduced, as I’ve said they have been a major factor in the storyline dominating the Impact Zone. They have become embroiled in this war for control. They have formed a group with the investor of TNA, MVP. This is intriguing especially considering that MVP himself was rewarded a similar debut in WWE with an Inferno match against Kane, being the second version of its match in history. MVP being the investor has had the luxury of being able to choose anyone he wants, but he chose these two. This stands out as he had to bring in two new wrestlers in order to make a statement of intent. These guys have definitely not disappointed as the American Wolves have had a startling run of victories. In TNA, they have been able to not only dominate but defeat Bad Influence and The BroMans. The American Wolves have basically added a new dilemma into a revitalized tag team division, as referred to in a previous article.
I can safely say that the TNA management must have been surprised with how good the duo have been. When The BroMans had pulled off the victory in last week’s Impact show, they were parading the tag team championship belts to the fans. It seemed that they were re-affirming their position as the dominant tag team. But this was not shown in the broadcast, as wasn’t Christopher Daniels celebrating his victory on last week’s TNA Xplosion with myself!!! This could show that the management’s decision for The American Wolves to win the belts came after the UK tour. The backstage promo between Bobby Roode and The BroMans regarding The American Wolves’ victory wasn’t broadcasted at the event, so the format of the programming at the time of the taping were to make the crowd believe that The BroMans were the tag team champions. This could be a magnificent attempt by the creative management to add a surprise and prevent spoilers from a show that was recorded over a month ago. But it could be as what Alex had posted up on Alex’s Assumptions that TNA wanted to steal some from the thunder from WWE Elimination Chamber. The American Wolves had lost the title belts during their tour in Japan, so this will add an interesting dilemma in tonight’s show, which was good.
The American Wolves believe in the vision of MVP. They are intent in delivering change to the Impact Zone. MVP along with the Impact Zone is sick and tired of the reign of terror under Dixie Carter. They are determined to cause a change and they have begun to do so since MVP had revealed himself. The American Wolves and MVP have directly clashed with Dixie Carter in her attempts of manipulating the course of events. It has lead to the big match in TNA Lockdown with the ownership of the company on the line. For a long time there was a lot of calamity in the Impact Zone. The world renowned names of AJ Styles, Kurt Angle and Sting were powerless in halting this atrocity. But there has been one group that has lead to this resistance in balancing out the running of the company. It’s indeed safe to say, the American Wolves are the new hounds of justice.
