TNA WRESTLING: FINAL RESOLUTION 2013 – 12/19/2013

2 OUT OF 3 FALLS MATCH: KURT ANGLE VS. BOBBY ROODE
TNA Booking Sheet: Bobby Roode def. Kurt Angle (wins 1st & 3rd falls).
Ric’s Booking Sheet: Kurt Angle def. Bobby Roode (wins 2nd & 3rd falls).
Analysis: Starting Final Resolution is the 2 out of 3 Falls Match between Bobby Roode and Kurt Angle. While holding the ropes in the 3rd fall, Bobby Roode picks up the win and gains the upset over Angle.

Analyzing this match through the eyes of TNA, Angle taking the loss does further the program these two are currently engaged in. Doubt and second guessing on the part of Angle does add an element into this feud which gives Roode the upper hand. However, there is an argument that can be made for Angle taking the victory. For Ric’s Booking Sheet, Angle is the victor and proves to Roode that he can beat him twice in one night. As Angle celebrates, Roode attacks Angle relentlessly as Roode screams that he is better than Angle. Chair shots and corner post strikes on the outside of the ring takes Angle out as Roode goes to the back proud of his actions. Angle has taken multiple loses already and though the loss tonight doesn’t necessarily hurt him, a win could have been more effective in progressing the story. We can still see the backstage segment of Angle still second guessing himself, as Roode does have a psychological advantage over Angle. From here we continue the feud into a final bout to end it all.

TAG TEAM MATCH: TNA KNOCKOUTS CHAMPION GAIL KIM & LEI’D TAPA VS. ODB AND MADISON RAYNE
TNA Booking Sheet: ODB & Madison Rayne def. Gail Kim & Lei’D Tapa.
Ric’s Booking Sheet: ODB & Madison Rayne def. Gail Kim & Lei’D Tapa.
Analysis: A returning Madison Rayne gets the pinfall victory over Gail Kim for the team victory after an impressive return to IMPACT Wrestling.

The booking was spot on for this contest for a couple of reasons. First, Gail Kim’s open challenge. We’ve seen Gail pick up win after win in her challenge, so we now have a viable contender for the TNA Knockouts Championship in Madison Rayne. Second, Madison Rayne’s return. It’s hard to ignore the positive reaction Madison has received since returning and tonight’s reaction upon her entrance was very well deserved. It’s also tradition to have a returning superstar pick up the win in order to regain that fire and get the crowd hot. The question in looking at these reasons together is when will Gail defend the title against Rayne? Gail Kim was pinned, so wouldn’t that count towards the open challenge stipulation? We’ll have to see next week to find out.

TNA WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT FINALS DIXIE LAND MATCH: JEFF HARDY VS. MAGNUS
TNA Booking Sheet: Magnus def. Jeff Hardy to become the new TNA World Heavyweight Champion.
Ric’s Booking Sheet: Magnus def. Jeff Hardy to become the new TNA World Heavyweight Champion.
Analysis: In a fantastic main event matchup for the TNA World Heavyweight Championship, Magnus climbs the ladder to become our new champion. But not without help from Rockstar Spud throwing Hardy off of the ladder on his way towards the title. Magnus and the Carter clan are now together as well.

For months, I’ve wanted to see Roode Vs. Angle in the finals, but seeing Magnus Vs. Hardy was great and makes the most sense now in the grand scheme of things. The issue of AJ Styles is still not resolved and when these two meet, and they certainly will when looking at this world title picture in TNA, it will be the past versus the future. If done right, AJ Styles Vs. Magnus can be a spectacle the fans could really invest in. Along with the world title situation truly being resolved between the two, it’s also the starting point to the end of the old TNA and the start of the new TNA, whoever is victorious.

What are your thoughts on tonight’s Final Resolution? Do you think Magnus should have been victorious or Jeff Hardy? Give us your thoughts below and let’s get the conversation started!

      I hope so too!

the only complaint I have is that there were only 3 matches. They should have scrapped the EY segment and put an X-Division match or a tag team match. I think at a minimum, every Impact should have at least 4 matches lasting at least 5 minutes.

Other than that, enjoyed the show.

I actually didn’t mind but they do need to end this Joseph Park angle. Just wish the Roode/ Angle match had more time.
