IMPACT WRESTLING – 2/27/14

Booking IMPACT! is back for another edition of IMPACT Wrestling from London, England! As always, we look at the in-ring bouts and see if the TNA booking sheet was correct in its outcome decisions. Booking IMPACT! starts now!

NON-TITLE THREE WAY TAG TEAM MATCH: THE BROMANS VS. BAD INFLUENCE VS. TNA TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS THE WOLVES
TNA Booking Sheet: The BroMans def. The Wolves & Bad Influence.
Ric’s Booking Sheet: The BroMans def. The Wolves & Bad Influence.
Analysis: Let’s face it, The BroMans have been on a role with their current position in TNA Wrestling. A win was imperative for The BroMans if their momentum was to stay on that role. If The Wolves had picked up the victory, that would have been a little too predictable. If Bad Influence picked up the win, it would have been an underwhelming win. Considering the skill and potential Bad Influence has, their train has left the station so to speak in terms of a main event level match. The BroMans are just as part of the Team Dixie drama as Magnus is, so good booking by TNA with this contest.

SINGLES MATCH: ETHAN CARTER III VS. DOUG WILLIAMS
TNA Booking Sheet: EC3 def. Doug Williams.
Ric’s Booking Sheet: Doug Williams def. EC3 via DQ.
Analysis: Mike Tenay stated that EC3 is still undefeated; however, this could have been a great opportunity to have EC3 take a loss by disqualification. The post match beatdown by EC3 to Williams could have worked well during the official match with EC3 ignoring the referee’s instructions to break or step back. After the referee calls off the match, EC3 looks to the camera and screams to Dixie Carter and/ or Magnus about his value in the group. Not only would this scenario bring out the vicious side of Ethan Carter III, but it would have also continued the inner turmoil within Team Dixie that’s been shown in recent weeks.

SINGLES MATCH: SAMOA JOE VS. BAD BONES
TNA Booking Sheet: Samoa Joe def. Bad Bones.
Ric’s Booking Sheet: Samoa Joe def. Bad Bones.
Analysis: Obviously Joe takes the win in this bout. Though Bad Bones looks to be a legit tough guy and might have the potential to hang in TNA, getting one over Magnus and his plans was most important. Not much else to really dissect in this bout as the right man came out victorious and the worry building inside of Magnus continues as he nears his title defense at Lockdown against Samoa Joe.

TAG TEAM MATCH: VELVET SKY & TNA KNOCKOUTS CHAMPION MADISON RAYNE VS. LEI’D TAPA & ALPHA FEMALE w/ GAIL KIM & CHRIS SABIN
TNA Booking Sheet: Lei’D Tapa & Alpha Female def. Velvet Sky & Madison Rayne.
Ric’s Booking Sheet: Velvet Sky & Madison Rayne def. Lei’D Tapa & Alpha Female.
Analysis: Madison takes the pinfall loss for the second week in a row, this time for her team. This is dangerous as Madison is the TNA Knockouts champion and is beginning to look very weak. Ric’s Booking Sheet has Rayne/ Sky over Tapa/ Alpha Female with Madison taking the win over Tapa in a symbolic gesture towards Gail Kim. The win for Rayne/ Sky causes the post match beatdown displayed on the broadcast with ODB involving herself. With this booking, Madison looks strong as the reigning champion and continues her feud with Gail Kim. Tapa has no real feud to go by (ODB possibly in the near future?) so this was truly a chance to move Gail’s and Madison’s feud forward properly.

SINGLES MATCH: BOBBY ROODE VS. MVP w/ AUSTIN ARIES AS SPECIAL REFEREE
TNA Booking Sheet: Bobby Roode def. MVP.
Ric’s Booking Sheet: Bobby Roode def. MVP.
Analysis: Whether due to interference by Austin Aries, illegal weapon or a clean win, Bobby Roode was the right man to win this bout. Balance is key. Team Dixie seemed unstoppable for some time and then came MVP. MVP and his crew were bringing Team Dixie down and now Roode gets a strong “W” for Team Dixie. Balance. With someone the caliber of Austin Aries now on Roode’s side, Lockdown gets even more interesting. The in-ring was solid, but the story being told was very fun to watch unfold. The main event scene in TNA Wrestling is very interesting now and things are really picking up. Booby Roode leads the way and we await next week’s show for the fallout.

What are your thoughts on the match outcomes for tonight’s broadcast? Was Bobby Roode the right man for the win? Should Lei’D Tapa and Alpha Female been victorious? Sound off below and give us your thoughts!
