TABLES MATCH: BULLY RAY & WILLOW VS. BOBBY ROODE & ETHAN CARTER III
TNA Booking Sheet: Bobby Roode & EC3 def. Bully Ray & Willow.
Ric’s Booking Sheet: Bully Ray & Willow def. Bobby Roode & EC3.
Analysis: Good way to kickoff IMPACT! tonight with a solid, albeit, relatively quick match when looking at the talent involved. However, the team of Bully Ray and Willow should have picked up the win. With the way IMPACT! ended last week, Willow should have gotten a good win to keep his momentum going. Bully Ray, transitioning into his babyface persona, could have also used a boost to garner more support and build towards a high profile match at Sacrifice. The beatdown given by Team Roode on the broadcast worked, but it could have been stronger if it was done later in the night, possibly a blindsided attack on Bully in the back leading to the ring.
STRAIGHT JACKET MATCH: MR. ANDERSON VS. SAMUEL SHAW
TNA Booking Sheet:
Ric’s Booking Sheet: Samuel Shaw def. Mr. Anderson.
Analysis: Samuel Shaw is getting the right amount of time to showcase to us what he’s about. Tonight’s win was necessary for further establishing not only the career of Samuel Shaw, but establishing the character and his ways. Mr. Anderson is a favorite (shout out to Mr. Anderson), but this is about helping to give a little bit of a nudge for Samuel. This is a great feud and we may see another at Sacrifice!
BEST OF 3 – MATCH 1 FOR THE X-DIVISION CHAMPIONSHIP: TIGRE UNO VS. TNA X-DIVISION CHAMPION SANADA
TNA Booking Sheet: Sanada def. Tigre Uno.
Ric’s Booking Sheet: Tigre Uno def. Sanada.
Analysis: Tigre Uno received vignettes leading up to his debut and so far, he has been on the back burner when compared with Sanada, or so it seems. The Best of 3 will go three matches; however, Tigre Uno should have picked up the first fall. Sanada wouldn’t be hurt with a loss tonight, considering he would remain the X-Division champion. Plus, he is already under the fans’ radar as an exciting talent to watch. Tigre Uno needs to be built up a bit better and a win tonight could have helped him. If the concept is only Uno and Sanada facing off in the Best of 3, a win in the second match for Tigre Uno would be ideal, but the momentum would have been raised to a higher level if he had taken the first win instead.
THE BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE VS. TNA KNOCKOUTS CHAMPION MADISON RAYNE & BRITTANY
TNA Booking Sheet: The Beautiful People def. Brittany.
Ric’s Booking Sheet: Madison Rayne & Brittany def. The Beautiful People.
Analysis: The biggest gripe with this is, yet again, the TNA Knockouts champion is made to look weak. This is not the way to book a champion and it devalues the championship. No issues with opponents getting the better of the champion to build on a feud, but Madison hasn’t been properly built as the champion. Perhaps this is a grand booking decision to give Madison the last laugh? It’s tough having Madison continually lose. A win should have been given to Team Rayne, even if Brittany took the pinfall victory. The Beautiful People need to be re-established, but they have enough cred to take a loss and be ok.
MVP VS. KENNY KING
TNA Booking Sheet: No Contest.
Ric’s Booking Sheet: Kenny King def. MVP.
Analysis: A better outcome would have been Kenny King getting a win over MVP through shady circumstances. Rolling up MVP while holding the tights, legs on the ropes, hitting MVP with brass knuckles when the ref is distracted, something along these lines to show that Kenny King is back and showing why he’s “The King of the Night”. This way, MVP (the competitor) gets in a feud that coincides with his duties running wrestling operations. It can be an interesting feud if the build is strong.
FATAL FOUR WAY TNA WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH: TNA WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION MAGNUS VS. SAMOA JOE VS. ABYSS VS. ERIC YOUNG
TNA Booking Sheet: Magnus def. Abyss, Samoa Joe & Eric Young.
Ric’s Booking Sheet: Magnus def. Abyss, Samoa Joe & Eric Young.
Analysis: Magnus was the sure favorite and the right man for the win. Magnus losing the belt is ideal for a pay-per-view matchup. The pressure was on Magnus to win and it was good to see Magnus take a win without anyone else involved in an unofficial capacity. The set up was made and we all expected what went down tonight with the exception of more Abyss/ Magnus dissension. We’ll see how next week’s show plays out, but the right man won tonight for sure. Keep Samoa Joe chasing the title and Eric Young getting involved is a bigger plus and adds more question marks as to who will be the next champion down the line.
