As you probably know, I attended TNA Wrestling‘s Impact Wrestling from Indiana, PA last week. You can read all about my experience here. I was there for two Xplosion matches, a live Impact Wrestling and a taped Impact Wrestling. I was traveling home with my friend and I just realized… Jeff Hardy wasn’t there! He and I were both surprised. We weren’t surprised because he wasn’t there, but surprised because we forgot all about him.
It’s quite easy to get wrapped up in the show as it goes on in front of you. You see Aces & 8s, Hulk Hogan, Bobby Roode, Austin Aries, Kurt Angle and you go from there. I, for one, would like to see Jeff Hardy in person. He was nowhere to be seen though!
I know TNA has to sell the whole angle with Jeff and how he lost the TNA World Title as well as being attacked by Aces. They need to sell that story. They just can’t have Hardy back a week after that.
Since Hardy is out, and I don’t know how long he will be out exactly, but they need someone to fill his spot. Here comes Sting. Sting returned at the show and now is the focal point.
This had to be planned out by TNA. Jeff Hardy is “hurt” and is away from TNA for awhile. Two weeks later, TNA brings Sting back. To fill his shoes? One major star leaves and another fills the spot. Nice thinking on TNA’s part. Where does this bring Jeff though?
TNA has been receiving low ratings for the past several weeks now. Is it because Jeff hasn’t been on? Well, the show that had the main event match on the live Impact Wrestling between Jeff Hardy and Bully Ray 3 weeks ago received the lowest rating in the company since October. Can Jeff draw anymore?
I also want to bring up TNA’s talent. As I stated, I didn’t even think about Jeff Hardy till my friend and I were driving back from the show. The reason is because TNA has so much big talent now! They have Austin Aries, Bobby Roode, Bully Ray, Hulk Hogan, Kurt Angle, Christopher Daniels, James Storm, and AJ Styles. It wasn’t till the ending of the live show where we saw Sting return. The point here is… TNA has a lot of talent. In fact, a TNA employee a little while back told me that, “TNA has too much talent.”
Jeff Hardy can certainly sell merchandise. He is not a green talent in the ring either. Does TNA really need him though? While I believe TNA can benefit from him, being a big name and all, TNA has so much talent that can fill his spot easily.
What do you think… does TNA need Jeff Hardy anymore?
