Hello again loyal readers! Welcome to my weekly article What TNA Should Have Done. Each week after Impact Wrestling I will be writing about what I feel TNA should have done differently both from an individual story or segment point of view as well as from the entire basis, and feel of the show point of view. I’m not going to review the entire show as fellow colleagues here at TNAnews.com already have that covered. Instead I will highlight the instances where I think they may have missed the ball or simply could have done better and give you my opinion of how they could have made it better.
Let’s get this started!
First I just want to say I liked how TNA had the segments of Bully Ray explaining how he masterminded and carried out the whole Aces & 8s plan. It was something diffrent and did it’s job very well. Now let’s talk about those things TNA should have done differently.
We’re going to start with one of the things I was most excited about going into this week’s show. The debut of the new X-Division rules. I was really looking forward to this. Hoping it meant new life for the X-Division. Now that the announcement has been made…. I’m confused. I understand the weight limit, I understand all championship matches will now be triple threats, but they never said if one of the two challengers pin, or submit the other if they win the title or if they have to pin or submit the champ. We learned if one of the challengers loses he is out of the title picture, but then how does a new guy get into the title picture? So in light of these mysteries TNA should have had Hogan sit down with a group of guys in the X-Division and introduce the new rules, and had the guys ask questions to get these answers. Then after setting the new rules I’d have the announcers hype it up, instead of instantly moving on to a plug for the main event. By doing it the way they did, it devalued the whole announcement and division. The announce team can really add to these things, however failing to do so happens way to often in today’s product from both of “the big 2″
Next on the agenda, the Bully Ray and Brooke Hogan segment. Everything was fine here and Brooke did well in selling she hates her husband, the only thing I would have liked to see is Brooke smack Bully. It would’ve added some more realism to the situation.
My only other gripe with this episode of Impact is we still had no Eric Young! After building his return as a big deal, and him being a star of the Lethal Lockdown match we have seen nothing from him. This is very disappointing as EY is undoubtedly one of the most over guys in the locker room.
Well that’s all I have for you this week. Tonight’s Impact was one of their best efforts. If this is what we have to look forward to not that the show is on the road then things are going to be looking up for a long time to come. Thanks again for reading, and don’t forget to let your opinion be heard in the comments!
