TNA should hire Okada. He is currently the IWGP Heavyweight Champion. Ultimately, if I wanted to, all I would have to say is that he was trained by the Ultimo Dragon. In my opinion, Ultimo Dragon was one of the best wrestlers in WCW. There may have been better characters or larger personalities, but Dragon’s wrestling skills are great. Okada’s skills are amazing. He just needs to be showcased. He needs a chance. In my opinion, Okada could move up the ranks of TNA Wrestling and be a force in the Heavyweight division. There is only one thing that is holding him back. That one thing is the language.
What UFC does better than professional wrestling is bringing in international talent. We continually see new international talent brought in and beat well known names. UFC has brought in Kim Dong-Hyun. His record is 18-2-1. Anyone that knows anything about mixed martial arts has heard of Anderson Silva. He is a legend in the MMA world. Even so, there have been multiple times where Joe Rogan has mentioned Silva learning English. He has gotten a lot better than he used to at it. Anderson Silva can draw. He is a rockstar in Brazil. The Brazilians go crazy for this man. As far as his record goes, he is 33-5. He just lost on July 6. Before his loss, he had not lost since January 20, 2006.
Not only is UFC better than professional wrestling in this category but boxing is much better. Boxing has world wide household name Saul “Canelo” Alvarez. This man has been called the Justin Bieber of Mexico. Although he does not look like the typical Mexican because of his red hair and freckles, his native language is Spanish. There have been episodes of 24/7 showing Alvarez learning English. Saul Alvarez can draw. Many Americans have grown to love him and know that he is going to have a bright career on Showtime Championship Boxing. His only loss is to Floyd “Money” Mayweather with Saul Alvarez’s record at 42-1-1.
Professional wrestling has not been kind to foreigners. It seems that Daivari did not have the best of treatment in WWE. The tag team No Limit is talented but were used as jobbers in TNA. Kiyoshi was used as a jobber. Okada was used as a jobber. Okada is a very talented wrestler but he is from Japan. In the UFC and boxing, when interviewing a person in a promo, they will use subtitles in the video. In interviews, there is a translator. I believe that they could do these things with Okada. He can still have character and charisma. He definitely has the wrestling ability. He just needs the chance to shine. By the way, he just turned 26 years old on Friday.
Who Should Retire
Chavo Guerrero was signed to a contract with Total Nonstop Action Wrestling on July 18, 2012. Throughout his career in TNA, he has been in a tag team with Hernandez. Truth be told, Chavo should have retired many years ago. He does not have the charisma anymore. We see him going through the motions of trying to get the crowd on his side but they don’t care. Every time I think of Chavo Guerrero, I think of him in WCW in the late 1990s. The second thing I think of when thinking of him is his run in WWE Smackdown. Guerrero was on Smackdown until late 2007. That was almost six years ago. It seems that he has done nothing since then. Chavo Guerrero is trapped in time and can’t figure out why the fans never react to him. We don’t care. He is not someone that has a character or any great wrestling ability anymore.
